Classes are divided into 2 age groups -
3 to 4 year olds and 4 to 5 year olds.
Each 45 minute class
features a variety of well thought out tasks and group processes.
Some examples include:
Passive stretching, learning body
parts, skips / runs / gallops / jumps / hops, throwing & catching to
develop their eye hand coordination skills, clapping to music,
basic gymnastics, creative movement and the use of imagery.
Introducing percussion instruments,
patterning and directional awareness, building strength and
flexibility, basic dance steps, marching and skipping in time to
music and working with partners and groups.
What happens when your child reaches 5 years of age?
OZDANCE is the next step when your child chooses to
continue with their learning. This now becomes a more
structured dancing class for children who wish to continue
dancing. The program, often referred to as “Pre-primary”,
has two different variants: Pre-primary Jazz or Pre-primary
Ballet.
Pre-Primary Ballet is based on the Royal Academy of
Dance (RAD) syllabus. It involves your child learning the basic
ballet technique to a variety of classical and piano music to
enhance stretch, posture, grace and precision of movement.
Pre-Primary Jazz teaches the basic steps to a variety of “pop” music to develop rhythm, coordination and flexibility.
Both classes have a focus on correct body alignment and
technique, flexibility, learning basic turns and positions of the
feet and arms and the learning of basic steps that lead to
routine and performance.
